Visual Studies Student Expectations

Expectations for Students are outlined on this document: Expectations for BFA Students

Student Work on the Web

Student work is archived on two places for the Visual Studies program; the Visual Studies Archive and Student Web Sites.

Visual Studies Archive

All Visual Studies BFA majors are expected to archive all of their projects from studio courses (past foundations) on the Visual Studies Archive. These archives will be a great help to you and faculty in seeing your work across the various studios.

  • Use a separate album for each course
  • Archive your learning plans in a separate album

Student Web Sites

Prior to the 3rd semester in Visual Studies, students should publish a web presence for their studio practice. These sites should display a select group of projects and documentation as well as texts about your work.

You can use any platform or server for your site, but it should include images of your work and support text.

Here are some options: You can put the site on the Merz server using basic html. You could also build your site with Expression Media which is available in the studio or computer labs in the department. Another option would be to use a prebuilt package program like Indexhibit or Stacey. These involve some installation of the package on your web space. Another option would be to use a bloggin format like Wordpress or Tumblr. If you have other ideas please inquire with faculty. See below for details.
